الخلافة هي رئاسة عامة في امور الدين والدنيا لشخص من الاشخاص نيابة عن النبي ومعين من قبل الله

يصر الحبيب على باطل بالقول أنه معين من قبل الله تعالى
لا يوجد نص يثبت هذا لا من القرآن ولا من السنة
والخلافة إنما هي اسم مشتق من الفعل خَلَفَ أي اتبع في الحكم. ومصطلح الاستخلاف في التعاليم الإسلامية هي سبب من الأسباب الرئيسية التي وضع الله بني البشر على الأرض من أجلها؛ كي يعبدوه ويطبقوا أحكامه التي أرسلها إلى الأنبياء والرسل على مر الزمن.

فالخلافة هي التي يناط بها إقامة شرع الله عز وجل، وتحكيم كتابه، والقيام على شؤون المسلمين، وإصلاح أمرهم، وجهاد عدوهم.

ويطلق لفظ الخلافة ويراد به الإمامة, وعليه درج استعمال الكلمتين لمعنى واحد.

الإمامة لغة: مصدر من أمّ والإمام كل من ائتم به قوم كانوا على الصراط المستقيم أو كانوا ضالين، والجمع أئمة، وإمام كل شيء قيّمه والمصلح له، والقرآن إمام المسلمين.
أما معناها اصطلاحاً: يقول أبو الحسن الماوردي " الإمامة: موضوعة لخلافة النبوة في حراسة الدين وسياسة الدنيا وبذلك تكون الخلافة والإمامة لهما نفس المعنى
وبناء على هذا فلا مجال للإدعاء بأنها تعيين إلهي
ومن ادعى ذلك فعليه أن يثبت ذلك بنص محكم لا يقبل التأويل
فالصلاة مثلا جاءت بنص محكم ولن يدعي أحد ان الصلاة يقصد بها الحج مثلا
